Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud exposes he held three-day talks with Frank Lampard at completion of the summer transfer window prior to choosing to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Olivier Giroud has opened on his “good relationship” with Frank Lampard and exposed that the Chelsea head coach convinced him to stay on at Stamford Bridge.
The France international was expected to leave West London in the summer transfer window after slipping even more down the chain of command since completion of last season.
A variety of teams were interested in finalizing Giroud, who has netted 29 goals in 91 appearances for Chelsea throughout all competitions since getting here in 2018.
Nevertheless, the 34-year-old was convinced by Lampard during three-day crisis talks to stay at the club for another year.
“He’s a manager who’s got some good ideas in the game,” he informed Onze Mondial. “He interacts well too, in the sense that he understands what he desires to inform his players.
” The message goes through well. Now, obviously, there’s a need for time to work, to incorporate the new players.
” Either way, I have a good relationship with him, particularly after we got to understand each other during those 3 days prior to completion of the transfer window.
“I was in his office, we were trying to find a solution and I eventually stayed. I’m staying another year, and I have a good relationship with him.”
Giroud will be hoping to make just his second Premier League appearance of the season when Chelsea handle Manchester United this coming weekend.
